MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to intense rains are expected over the eastern sections of Luzon and Visayas due to the shear line, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Wednesday.
In its latest heavy rainfall outlook, Pagasa said heavy to intense rains, ranging from 100 to 200 millimeters, would drench the following areas from Wednesday to Thursday noon:
- Catanduanes
- Albay
- Sorsogon
- Northern Samar
- Eastern Samar
Meanwhile, moderate to heavy rains of 50 to 100 mm are expected over the following provinces:
- Camarines Sur
- Samar
- Leyte
- Southern Leyte
- Dinagat Islands
Pagasa warned that these conditions could trigger localized flooding, particularly in urbanized, low-lying, and river-adjacent areas.
In a separate weather advisory, Pagasa said the northeast monsoon or amihan, the shear line, and the easterlies continue to affect the country, bringing cooler temperatures.
