MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Marine Corps (PMC) has acquired an additional marine asset, a combat rubber raiding craft (CRRC) with outboard motors, for its Force Reconnaissance Group (FRG).The PMC said the CRRC was tested at the FRG headquarters at the Marine Barracks Gregorio Lim in Ternate, Cavite, on January 25.
“[The] CRRC will be used by FRG deployed units attached with marine brigades and the Armed Forces of the Philippines Special Operations Command in support of different special operations missions in the area of operations,” the PMC said in a statement on Tuesday night.
“It will enhance its capability through providing reliable platforms that were operationally ready during various small-scale amphibious operations,” it added.
The new asset, the PMC said, was acquired to address issues affecting mission operations’ completion.
“This will also ensure the attainment of providing a committed number of water assets at [their] prime condition that can be utilized in the conduct of any military operations,” it added.
