‘Guilty’ vote gains ground
MANILA, Philippines – Five senators have so far voted to convict Chief Justice Renato Corona for his failure to disclose to the public his statement of assets, liabilities and net worth (SALN).
Those who gave a “guilty” verdict were Senators Edgardo Angara, Pia Cayetano, Alan Cayetan, Franklin Drilon, and Franchiz “Chiz” Escudero, and Senate Pro-Tempore Jose “Jinggoy” Estrada.
“To my eyes, he’s [Corona] guilty,” said Estrada.
Estrada was the first in the so-called “Gang of 4” in the Senate who cast his vote against Corona.
Other members of the group were Senate President Juan Ponce-Enrile, and Senate Majority Leader Vicente “Tito” Sotto III and Senator Gringo Honasan.
