5 drug suspects nabbed with P2.7-M shabu in Rizal

LUCENA CITY — Police on Sunday, Jan. 19, seized shabu (crystal meth) worth more than P2.7 million from five alleged drug traffickers in Angono town in Rizal province.

A team of anti-illegal drugs operatives held suspects “Rodney,” “Melquiadez,” “Gladdys,” “Jose,” and “Samuel” at 6:18 p.m. after selling P5,000 worth of shabu to an undercover policeman inside a subdivision in Barangay San Isidro, the Region 4A police said in a report Monday.

The operatives confiscated from the suspects 11 sealed plastic sachets and two knot-tied plastic sachets containing 400 grams of shabu worth P2,720,000 as per Dangerous Drugs Board valuation and a digital weighing scale.

The lawmen also seized a mobile phone from the suspects to be examined for drug transactions.

The Rizal police are investigating the source of the drugs.

Police said Rodney, Melquiadez, and Gladdys are on the police drug watch list as “HVI” or high-value individuals in the local drug trade.

HVI refers to financiers, traffickers, manufacturers, and importers of illegal drugs or leaders/members of drug groups.

Jose and Samuel are classified as street drug pushers in the locality.

The arrested suspects were detained at the local police jail, while cases for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being prepared for filing in court. INQ
