Fire engulfs cold storage facility in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — A fire broke out early Monday morning at a cold storage facility in Fernando Poe Jr. Avenue, Brgy. Del Monte, Quezon City, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.
The facility involved has been identified by the BFP as the Glacier North Refrigeration Storage.
Authorities raised the first alarm at 3:28 a.m.
It reached the second and third alarms five hours later at 8:21 a.m.
According to Fire Officer Teresa May Pinawin, the situation was quickly raised to the third alarm so that additional fire trucks could be deployed to the site.

“‘Pag nagtaas po ng alarm, mas dumadagdag ‘yung mga fire trucks. So to be sure po, they tap na until the third alarm,” she explained.

The fire was declared under control at 12:19 p.m. and was fully extinguished at 12:52 a.m. on Tuesday, almost 22 hours after it started.
A total of 26 fire trucks responded to the incident, according to the BFP.
The BFP has yet to release details on casualties / injuries and the extent of damage.
