Simplified steps entice Antique barangay-based biz to apply for permit
SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The streamlined steps adopted by the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) have enticed barangay-based businesses to apply for their licenses.
“We have adopted only three steps for the business permit application to encourage more business owners to apply for their mayor’s permit,” San Jose de Buenavista BPLO head Elsie Elizalde said in an interview on Friday.
The three steps are registration, assessment and payment, and issuance of mayor’s permit.
For Jan. 2 to 16 period, the BPLO processed and issued permits to 1,550 business applications.
“Of the 1,550 business applications, there are 49 new applications, mostly barangay-based businesses such as sari-sari stores and junk shops,” Elizalde said.

The permit application is made more accessible with the one-stop shop at the municipal hall, where all government agencies needed for their clearances have assigned personnel to facilitate their applications.
San Jose de Buenavista is the pilot municipality of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) for its online application for the fire safety inspection certificate, a regulatory requirement for business owners to secure a business or mayor’s permit.
