Construction worker killed in Rizal landslide

LUCENA CITY — A construction worker was killed in a landslide in Tanay town in Rizal province on Thursday, Jan. 16.

The Police Region 4A, citing a report from Tanay police, said that at around 9:30 a.m., an avalanche of loose soil from the upper portion of the construction site buried two workers while digging for a fence project in Barangay Sampaloc.

Rescuers recovered the buried workers identified as Leonardo Pajanustan and Albert Tiongco. The latter was found unconscious.

Tiongco was rushed to the Army Station Hospital at Camp Capinpin in the same village but was declared dead on arrival.
