MANILA, Philippines — The Metro Rail Transit Line-3 management on Thursday warned the public about Facebook pages falsely advertising free transport cards and using a logo similar to or resembling MRT-3’s.

In a statement, the MRT-3 said it is not affiliated with social media pages named “Transportation in Metro Manila” and “Transport for Manila,” which are offering free transport cards as part of the Department of Transportation’s (DOTr) 126th anniversary.

“The Metro Rail Transit Line-3 advises the public that the Facebook pages ‘Transport for Manila’ and ‘Transportation in Manila,’ which use a logo resembling that of the MRT-3, are not affiliated with the train line,” MRT-3 said in an advisory.

The MRT-3 administration also clarified that it is not giving away free transportation cards as advertised by the said pages.

It urged the public to remain cautious of potential scams and verify promotional claims through the MRT-3’s official Facebook page.

The MRT-3 management further warned against the unauthorized use of its logo, name, or images for personal gain and said it would pursue legal action if necessary.
