As part of its ongoing commitment to water education and environmental advocacy, Manila Water continues to empower public school teachers through its specialized Lakbayan tours.
Branded as SALIN: Lakbayan Para sa mga Guro, the program has successfully conducted 18 sessions, reaching over 200 participants since its launch in 2023. In 2024 alone, it welcomed educators from 59 schools across Metro Manila’s East Zone.
In collaboration with the Department of Education – National Capital Region (DepEd NCR), the program offers teacher-participants an immersive, whole-day tour of Manila Water’s key facilities.
The journey begins at La Mesa Ecopark, Metro Manila’s environmental hub, where participants learn about the company’s sustainability initiatives. They then visit La Mesa Dam, gaining insights into its pivotal role in the water treatment process.
The tour culminates at Manila Water’s water and wastewater treatment plants, where subject matter experts provide detailed explanations of the processes that ensure safe drinking water for customers and the proper treatment of wastewater before its return to natural waterways.

Each session concludes with a reflection activity, encouraging participants to share their insights and outline plans to integrate what they have learned into classroom discussions.
SALIN aims to involve more schools and complete its run of all identified public elementary schools within its concession areas in NCR throughout 2025. Building on its success, the program plans to extend its reach to the Rizal province, starting with Antipolo City by 2026.
“Experiential knowledge—so much learning! Unforgettable!” remarked one teacher-participant during the program’s feedback and evaluation session.
Through SALIN: Lakbayan Para sa mga Guro, Manila Water will continue to transfer and transform communities through education by reaffirming its commitment to fostering environmental stewardship and sustainability awareness among educators, equipping them to inspire future generations.
