Motorist nabbed after hitting traffic enforcer in Bulacan accident
STA. MARIA, Bulacan — A 31-year-old driver was arrested on Tuesday after losing control of his vehicle and accidentally hitting a traffic enforcer in this town.
Bulacan Police Director Col. Satur Ediong identified the suspect as Philip Cris Antonie Baynito, a resident of Ramon Magsaysay, Quezon City, and the victim as Salvador Dela Cruz, 51, a municipal traffic enforcer from Barangay Parada, Sta. Maria.
The police reported that Dela Cruz was managing traffic near the southbound end of Sta. Maria Bridge in Barangay Bagbaguin around 10:20 a.m. when a metallic black Toyota Avanza (plate number NIO-3457), driven by Baynito, suddenly hit him.
CCTV footage captured Dela Cruz standing in the middle of the road attending to traffic flow from two busy inner lanes when the vehicle struck him.
The impact hurled him into the air, and he landed several meters away.

Police Master Sergeant Christopher Baltazar, the investigator handling the case, said Baynito lost control of his vehicle after falling asleep at the wheel. Baynito had reportedly just completed a work shift and was heading to the North Luzon Expressway en route to Quezon City when the accident occurred.
Baynito is now in police custody and faces charges of serious physical injuries.
