THE two arrest warrants recently issued against Joavan Fernandez have been lifted.
Regional Trial Court Judge Enriquita Belarmino of Branch 57 yesterday granted the motion for reconsideration filed by the adopted son of Talisay City Mayor Socrates Fernandez.
The judge, who issued the warrant last June 16 after Joavan failed to attend his arraignment on a charge of illegal drug possession, noted that this was “the first nonappearance of the accused.”
She reinstated his bail bond.
Joavan appeared before Judge Belarmino yesterday and vowed to attend his scheduled arraignment on July 21.
In another court, Municipal Trial Court in Cities Judge Pamela Uy of Branch 6 has also granted Joavan’s request to lift the arrest warrant issued against him.
The warrant was issued after Joavan failed to appear in court for the arraignment of the malicious mischief and direct assault charges he is casing.
Joavan was charged for allegedly ramming his vehicle into a police car driven by Chief Insp. George Ylanan, chief of Cebu City’s Investigation and Detective Management Branch (IDMB), last Feb. 6. REPORTER ADOR VINCENT S. MAYOL
