Thankfully, the andas recovered just minutes later, around 3:10 p.m.
Devotees chanted “Viva, Viva, Viva!” as the carriage finally continued traveling to the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno or Quiapo Church after departing from Quirino Grandstand past 4 a.m.
The street post, however, was not damaged.
As of posting, the andas is already approaching the San Sebastian Church.
Traslacion is the annual procession commemorating the transfer of the image of Jesus Nazareno to Quiapo Church.
Devotees continue to flood the streets of Quiapo in hopes of being able to see (or ideally, touch) the image of Jesus Nazareno as it traversed toward the Church.
The duration of the procession varies every year, with the 2024’s traslacion lasting for about 15 whole hours.
