MANILA, Philippines — The andas, or the carriage carrying the image of Jesus Nazareno tilted sidewards in the middle of traslacion on Thursday afternoon. The andas suddenly tilted sidewards around 3:06 p.m., at Arlegui St. corner Farnecio St.
It titled to the right, almost dropping to its side as dozens of devotees attempted to climb the andas to take the chance to touch the carriage and the edge of the crucifix themselves.
Thankfully, the andas recovered just minutes later, around 3:10 p.m.
Devotees chanted “Viva, Viva, Viva!” as the carriage finally continued traveling to the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno or Quiapo Church after departing from Quirino Grandstand past 4 a.m.
The street post, however, was not damaged.
