No LPA, cyclone in next days; monsoon, shear line to prevail Jan 9
MANILA, Philippines — No low-pressure area (LPA) or tropical cyclone is expected within and outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) in the coming days, according to the state weather agency.
But the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, and the shear line will continue to affect the country with cloudy skies and rains.
“Currently, we are not monitoring any LPA or tropical cyclones in and out of PAR,” Pagasa specialist Rhea Torres said in mixed Filipino and English during a weathercast on Thursday morning.
“In the next few days, we still do not expect any LPA or typhoon that can affect any part of the country,” she added.
