Expect heavier traffic in Pasig due to Jan. 9 Nazarene procession
MANILA, Philippines — A procession for a local celebration of the Feast of Jesus Nazareno will affect the traffic flow in eight streets in Pasig City on Thursday evening.
The city public information office (PIO) advised motorists to expect heavier traffic in the following streets due to the Samahang Hesus Nazareno ng Pasig’s (Jesus Nazarene Society of Pasig) procession beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 9:
- R. Jabson Street
- M. H. Del Pilar Street
- E. Angeles Street
- Dr. Pilapil Street
- A. Mabini Street
- P. Burgos Street
- Lopez Jaena Street
- Dr. Garcia Street
“Plan your trip ahead and take alternative routes,” the Pasig City PIO said in an advisory on Tuesday evening.

While local Nazareno observances are not new, this year’s festivities mark the first since the Feast of Jesus Nazareno was declared a “national, liturgical feast” to be celebrated in all dioceses across the country.
Article continues after this advertisementThe traditional grand procession of the image of Jesus Nazarene from the Quirino Grandstand to the Quiapo Church, or the Traslacion, is also set to take place on Thursday, Jan. 9.
Several roads in the City of Manila have been closed in anticipation of the millions of devotees flocking to the processional route.
