Firecracker-related injuries climb to 843, says DOH
MANILA, Philippines — Firecracker-related injuries increased to 843 as the Department of Health (DOH) concluded its monitoring of firecracker incidents on Monday.
The DOH started its firecracker monitoring on December 22, 2024, and ended it at 6 a.m. on January 6, noting a 38 percent hike in injuries caused by firecrackers compared to the 610 cases documented in the same period previously.
Of the sum, 491 were aged 19 and below, while 341 were 20 years old and above; 696 were male while 147 were female.

The DOH said the death toll from firecracker or fireworks incidents stood at four as of 6 a.m., January 6.
