2 drug traffickers yield shabu, marijuana, gun in Laguna, Batangas
LUCENA CITY — Two suspected big-time drug traffickers were arrested on Saturday and Sunday, January 4 and 5, in buy-bust operations in Laguna and Batangas provinces.
The suspects yielded more than P760,000 worth of shabu (crystal meth) and marijuana and an illegal firearm, the Police Region 4A reported.
Police said anti-illegal drugs operatives in Cabuyao City, Laguna collared “Mark” at 12:43 a.m. Sunday after he sold a pack of marijuana to a poseur buyer in Barangay (village) Uno.
Seized from the suspect were 12 bags and tape-wrapped papers containing dried marijuana leaves weighing two kilos worth P320,000.
The operatives also confiscated a motorcycle believed to have been used by the suspect in his distribution of illegal drugs.
Article continues after this advertisementIn Tanauan City, Batangas, policemen nabbed alleged shabu peddler “Raymundo” in a sting operation at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday in Barangay Poblacion 1.
Article continues after this advertisementThe suspect was caught with 14 plastic sachets of meth weighing 65 grams worth P442,000, a digital weighing scale, and an undocumented caliber .380 pistol loaded with seven bullets.
Authorities also confiscated the suspect’s car believed to have been used in the illegal drug trade.
The police classified the suspects as high-value individuals (HVI) in the local drug trade.
HVI refers to financiers, traffickers, manufacturers, and importers of illegal drugs or leaders/members of drug groups.
The suspects are in police custody and will be charged with violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Raymundo will also face additional charges for illegal possession of a firearm.
