Hontiveros: BI execs tried to secure bail for Tony Yang

Bureau of Immigration (BI) officials attempted to have businessman Tony Yang released on bail, Senator Risa Hontiveros said Monday.

Yang is the elder brother of Michael Yang, the former economic advisor to then-President Rodrigo Duterte. His arrest was said to be “critical” in Congress’ investigation into criminal networks behind Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogos).

PhilHealth benefits will increase despite zero subsidy – Marcos

Despite receiving zero subsidy from the 2025 national budget, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation’s (PhilHealth) services will not be hampered and will instead increase, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Monday.

In his speech during the ceremonial signing of the 2025 General Appropriations Act, Marcos said the government would ensure that PhilHealth benefits would expand further.

DepEd, DPWH get highest 2025 budget allocation

The education sector has been allocated the largest portion of the 2025 General Appropriations Act budget, with funding amounting to P1.055 trillion.

It was followed by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) with P1.007 trillion.
