Rainfall warnings
Since last week, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) has been issuing heavy rainfall and flood warnings due to the combined effects of Tropical Storm Pabuk (formerly Romina), the shear line, and the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
Pagasa, in a forecast on Christmas Day, said that the shear line in the northeast part of the country and the ITCZ would continue to cause heavy to intense rainfall until Thursday over the provinces of Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.
According to a bulletin issued by Pagasa on Thursday, the shear line will cause moderate to heavy rains until Friday in Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Davao Oriental and heavy to intense rains beginning Friday noon until Saturday noon in Cagayan. —with a report from Delfin T.
