MAN KILLED

IN BIKE CRASH

A 30-YEAR-OLD man died in a motorcycle crash in barangay Lower Becerril, Boljoon town, southern Cebu.

Police said Julieto Bucog, a native of Ronda town, southern Cebu, met the accident after attending a fiesta celebration in the barangay last Saturday dawn.

Police said it was possible that Bucog was driving in high speed when the motorcycle hit a boulder piled at the side of the road.

Police said boulders were placed by the roadside to cover road cracks caused by an earthquake several months ago.

The impact threw Bucog off his motorcycle. The man was able to seek help from some residents in the area. He was rushed to the Oslob District Hospital but attending physicians declared him dead./REPORTER RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

BUS HITS PICK-UP CAR, COUPLE HURT

AN elderly couple were injured after a tourist bus hit a pick-up car parked along a road in barangay Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.

Rufina Baquial, 66, was unconscious when she and her husband Jovencio Bacquial, 69, were brought to the Mactan Doctors’ Hospital.

Police said the couple were on board a pick-up vehicle that was parked at the side of the road early morning yesterday.

The pick-up car with plate number THH-412 was driver by Richard Logarta, grandson of the couple.

Logarta said they were headed to a beach and he parked the vehicle while waiting for someone.

The TIM Transport bus with plate number GWZ-606 was carrying 56 call center agents from Convergys who were also headed to the beach.

Police said the driver of the bus, Ronir Gomez, 43, of barangay Canduman, Mandaue City, tried to avoid a motorcycle from the opposite lane but instead hit a trisikad, then the pick-up car.
