THE Department of Education admitted they cannot provide standard classrooms for all students with the implementation of the K+12 program next month.
“We cannot provide a standard classroom for the junior and senior high school but, we assured everyone that the students will be housed very well,” Dr. Carmelita Dulangon, Dept. of Education (DepEd) regional director for Central Visayas said during the presscon held at the DepEd regional office.
Dulangon explained that classrooms are available for the junior and senior high school though it is not standardized.
According to Dr. Dulangon, it was so hard to build new classrooms for the junior and senior high students in all schools.
However, Dr. Dulangon was thankful for the Local Government Units (LGU’s) who helped in building new classrooms.
“The Brigada Eskwela was also important in repairing damages in some parts of the schools.“ Dr. Dulangon said.
The nationwide Brigada Eskwela in all public schools started last Monday.
Dr. Dulangon also said teaching materials and the teachers themselves have been prepared to implement the DepEd program requiring the use of the vernacular as the primary medium of instruction for kindergarted, and grades 1 to 3.
“The textbooks are in Cebuano and our teachers will use our mother tongue in teaching.”’ Dr. Lorna Rances, Schools Division Superintendent of Bohol said.
Aside from Cebuano, Hiligaynon is also spoken in Central Visayas. /Careen L. Malahay, Correspondent
