TACLOBAN CITY – Classes and work were suspended in this city and in the town of Carigara, Leyte on Wednesday, Dec. 18, due to Tropical Depression Querubin.

Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez issued an executive order on Tuesday, declaring the suspension of work and classes across the city.

He said the suspension was a precautionary measure in anticipation of potential hazards such as heavy rains, flooding, and landslides.

In Carigara, Mayor Eduardo Ong Jr. also ordered the suspension of work and classes at all levels in public and private schools.

The Office of Civil Defense and the Department of Interior and Local Government in Eastern Visayas urged all local governments in the region to closely monitor the situation and take necessary measures to safeguard lives and properties.

According to weather forecasts, the region is expected to experience light to heavy rains due to the effects of Querubin.
