MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude 5.5 earthquake hit Sarangani Island in Davao Occidental on Tuesday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
According to Phivolcs, aftershocks are expected. However, no damages are anticipated.

In its earthquake bulletin, Phivolcs said that the magnitude 5.5 earthquake occurred east of Sarangani Island at 7:04 p.m.
The earthquake was tectonic in origin and had a depth of 163 kilometers.
