All PUVs to be tagged

THE METROPOLITAN Manila Development Authority (MMDA) has ordered operators of public utility vehicles (PUV) to print the license plate of their units on the roof and sides of the vehicles. In a statement, MMDA Chair Francis Tolentino said the agency resolution on the tagging of all PUVs which was signed Friday last week gave operators of city and provincial buses, jeepneys, taxis and school and tourist buses three months to comply with the directive. He added that those who fail to do so would have their vehicles tagged as out-of-line or colorum and face the penalty of having their franchise cancelled or suspended by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board. Tolentino said the new directive would allow the MMDA to easily identify errant vehicles in line with its no physical contact policy. Miko Morelos
