MANILA, Philippines — Camarines Norte recorded its first case of bird flu this month, becoming the latest province to be infected by the animal disease, according to the Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI).
In a statement on Wednesday, the BAI confirmed the detection of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) type A subtype H5N2 at a duck farm in Talisay.

“This is the first detection of HPAI H5N2 in the country and the first recorded avian influenza case in the province,” the BAI said. It added that a thorough investigation was underway. —Jordeene B. Lagare
