Robredo’s Angat Buhay distributes medical supplies to typhoon-hit Naga City

MANILA, Philippines — The Angat Buhay Foundation on Sunday provided medical supplies to 27 barangay health centers in Naga City that were damaged by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami).

Angat Buhay, led by former Vice President Leni Robredo, said the foundation and its partners donated approximately P3.5 million worth of medical equipment to the affected barangay health centers.

These included oxygen tanks, autoclaves, weighing scales, stretchers, examining tables, and salter scales.

“The turnover of medical supplies is part of Angat Buhay’s rehabilitation efforts for barangays affected by Tropical Storm Kristine,” Robredo said in a statement.

“We aim to replenish their supply to ensure that the needs of their residents affected by the flood are met,” she added in Filipino.

Robredo emphasized that the new medical supplies and equipment would enhance the delivery of health services, aligning with their goal of improving access to universal healthcare at the barangay level in the city.

Angat Buhay’s partners include Metrobank Foundation Inc. and Intellicare, according to Robredo.

“Metrobank Foundation is honored to have collaborated with Angat Buhay in its rehabilitation efforts for Naga City communities affected by Typhoon Kristine. Providing essential medical equipment to barangay health centers ensures that residents have access to the healthcare they need,” Metrobank Foundation Executive Vice President Philip Dy said in a statement.

In November, Angat Buhay likewise conducted a water search and rescue (WASAR) training to enhance the skills and knowledge of Naga City’s community members.

“We continue to extend our help to those affected by the typhoon here in Naga and in other communities across the country. We have engaged in rehabilitation, resilience, risk reduction, and mitigation efforts so families can get back on their feet at the soonest possible time and communities will be more prepared in the future,” Angat Buhay Executive Director Raffy Magno said in Filipino.
