MANILA – Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said Monday that upholding human dignity is central to its mission of protecting the country and its people.

“The protection of human dignity is not separate from our mission —it is at the center of it. The AFP has come a very, very long way in integrating human rights principles into our operations and institutional culture,” he said during the flag-raising rites in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, as the military observes National Human Rights Consciousness Week.
