PCG deploys vessels after alleged China helicopter harassment in WPS

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) has deployed two of its vessels to ensure the safety and security of Filipino fishermen within Rozul Reef in the West Philippine Sea after receiving evidence of alleged harassment by a People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy helicopter.

Commodore Jay Tarriela, the PCG spokesperson for the West Philippine Sea, said a video taken last November 28 was sent to them by those onboard a Filipino fishing boat who witnessed the harassment.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has not received any “credible” threat against the life of Vice President Sara Duterte.

This information comes after the vice president recently revealed that she tasked someone to “kill” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez, if she would get assassinated.

Ombudsman: We have ‘no jurisdiction’ to probe VP Duterte’s threats

Ombudsman Samuel Martires on Sunday said his office has “no jurisdiction” to probe Vice President Sara Duterte’s alleged kill threat against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., his wife, and House Speaker Martin Romualdez should she be assassinated.

Martires made the clarification when asked about the statement of Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Jesse Andres that Duterte “is not immune from suit and she can be subject of any criminal and administrative case” and that it is within the Ombudsman’s authority to act on this matter.
