MANILA, Philippines — Members of Makabayan Coalition held a protest on Monday calling for the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte.
Over 50 members gathered in front of the House of Representatives South Gate holding placards bearing “Impeach Sara Duterte” and “Itigil ang palabas, Sara ipasok sa rehas (Stop the show, jail Sara),” among others.
Simultaneously, the House Committee on Good Government and Public Accountability conducted its seventh hearing on the alleged misuse of the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education’s confidential fund (CF) under Duterte’s watch.
On Saturday, Duterte revealed in a press conference that she tasked someone to “kill” President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr., his wife, and Speaker Martin Romualdez, should she be assassinated.
Over the weekend, Malacañang tagged it as an “active threat.”
Several members of the House of Representatives said her statement was “desperate lies” to “evade accountability over her alleged misuse of P612.5 million in confidential funds.”
