TWO persons were arrested after packs of suspected shabu were recovered from them in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.
Ralph Oporto, 36, of barangay Banilad, and Romeo Coca Jy, 20, of barangay Casuntingan, Mandaue City, each yielded a pack of suspected shabu.
Before the arrest, police reported that two armed men were spotted last Thursday afternoon on board a blue XRM motorcycle on Hernan Cortes Street in barangay Subangdaku.
Acting on the report, members of the Investigative and Detective Management Bureau and the Subangdaku police rushed to Hernan Cortes Street but the two reported armed men were not found there.
Police patrolled in the area until they spotted two men on a motorcycle whose features matched with the description of the two armed men who were spotted in Hernan Cortes Street.
Police flagged down the two men on P. Remedio Street.
Police said the backrider, who was later identified as Oporto, allegedly threw something to the ground.
Police said the object contained white crystalline substance believed to be shabu. The illegal drugs weighed 1.8 grams with an street value of P20,000, said Insp. Ramil Morpos, officer in charge of the Subangdaku police station.
Police said Coca, who drove the motorcycle, failed to present a driver’s license.
Police said no guns were recovered from the two men.
The two men were detained at the Subangdaku police precinct pending the filing of charges against them.
