MANILA, Philippines — Some parts of the country will experience rain on Friday due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
In the 4 a.m. weathercast, Pagasa specialist Rhea Torres said the northeast monsoon is affecting the extreme northern Luzon while the easterlies, or wind coming from the Pacific Ocean, are influencing the atmospheric conditions in the rest of the country.
(Due to the effects of the northeast monsoon, or amihan, overcast weather with light rains in Batanes and Babuyan Islands is possible.)

Torres also said that the rest of Luzon will experience hot weather on Friday at noon and possibly rain and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
She added that rains are possible in eastern Visayas and eastern Mindanao due to the easterlies.
(Southern Leyte, Caraga, and Davao region may experience cloudy weather with scattered rain showers, thunder, and lightning.)

(For the remaining portions of Visayas, Mindanao, and Palawan, fair weather conditions are possible. Warm weather by noon and possibly sudden or brief rainfall due to thunderstorms by afternoon and evening.)
For Friday, Pagasa raised a gale warning over the coastal areas of Batanes where 3.1 to 4.5 meters of waves are likely to occur.
The coastal areas of northern Luzon may also experience moderate to rough seas due to the northeast monsoon, according to Pagasa.
