MANILA, Philippines — The easterlies and northeast monsoon or “amihan” will continue to bring overcast skies and rains to most parts of the country on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

In a 4 a.m. weathercast, Pagasa specialist Benison Estareja said some areas in Northern Luzon will experience rains and a slight drop in temperature due to the northeast monsoon.

“Today, still expect cloudy skies over Batanes and the Babuyan Islands. It will also be accompanied by light to moderate rains and isolated thunderstorms due to the effects of the northeast monsoon. So make sure to bring an umbrella,” Estareja said in mixed Filipino and English.

As for Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said overcast skies and rains may occur on Thursday also due to the easterlies.

“To our fellow citizens in large parts of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao, partly cloudy and sometimes cloudy skies may still prevail there. This morning, there’s already a chance that rain will occur in Zamboanga del Sur and Basilan,” Estareja said.

“In a large part of Eastern Visayas, that condition won’t last long, and for the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, partly cloudy skies are still there, and would last until the afternoon,” he added.

Pagasa did not raise a gale warning over any of the country’s major seaboards for Thursday, November 21.
