Fire guts Pandacan homes

Seven families were left homeless when fire gutted homes on Linceo Street in Pandacan early Friday morning. Manila Fire Insp. Guillermo Fermalino Jr. said no one was hurt in the blaze, which started 8:36 a.m. in a house owned by Michael Cabrera.—Julliane de Jesus

Bus marshals detect ‘shabu’

Bus marshals on Friday frisked a 23-year-old laborer about to board a northbound bus in front of SM Mega Mall and reportedly found a fan knife and 18 grams of the banned methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu.” The man, identified as Esma Macasalong of Dasmariñas, Cavite, was taken to the Eastern Police District’s anti-illegal drugs unit.—Niña Calleja
