Manila Water further gains ground in enhancing and expanding its water service reach in the province of Rizal with the completion of the Metro Royale Phases 1 and 2 Mainline Extension project in Montalban (formerly Rodriguez) and the 300-millimeter (mm) Pipelaying Laying project in Sitio Balatik in Binangonan.
Metro Royale Phases 1, 2 Mainline Extension
The East Zone concessionaire has installed over 2,566 linear meters of 100-mm-diameter high-density polyethylene (HDPE) waterlines in Metro Royale Homes, along with an additional 130 meters of 100-mm HDPE pipes in the Baltazar Compound in the Municipality of Montalban.
To strengthen the water infrastructure, a 200mm HDPE pipe was installed along Montana Drive. This further improved water pressure and considerably reduced head loss in the area. In addition, various essential appurtenances—including air valves, blow-off valves, line meters, and fire hydrants—were strategically installed throughout Metro Royale Phases 1 and 2. These installations are crucial for monitoring, maintaining, and optimizing the overall water system.
Completed in May 2024, this P21.6-million mainline extension project expanded Manila Water’s service coverage in Montalban, adding an estimated distribution volume of 0.27 million liters per day (MLD). Over 3,462 residents in Barangay Burgos now enjoy enhanced water supply. The project also contributed to a 0.57% increase in the company’s service coverage in the area.
Sitio Balatik Pipelaying Project
Manila Water is set to improve water access for residents in Binangonan, Rizal, with the installation of 747 linear meters of 300 mm HDPE pipes in Sitio Balatik. These pipes, which convey water from the Cardona Water Treatment Plant, aid in widening the company’s service reach in the province.
With its completion in July 2024, the company increased its coverage to 2,400 households in the sitio and adjacent communities from the previous 1,506 with reliable and consistent water supply.
