MANILA, Philippines — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said it has validated 23 cases of people who got injured during the last three tropical cyclones that hit the country.
The NDRRMC said in its latest account that the 23 confirmed cases are part of the 25 injury reports that the agency received from areas affected by typhoons Nika (international name: Toraji), Typhoon Ofel (international name: Usagi), and Pepito (international name: Man-yi).
The NDRRMC also disclosed in its situational report issued at 8 a.m., November 19, that Nika, Ofel, and Pepito now affected 1,810,190 people.
Of the current total count, 453,809 people were staying at evacuation centers while 163,527 sought shelter elsewhere.
The council further said that 20 cities or municipalities have been declared under a state of calamity: eight in Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), one in Region 3 (Central Luzon), and 11 in Cordillera Administrative Region.
To aid affected communities, the government has so far distributed P54,036,473 worth of assistance, according to the NDRRMC.
Nika left the Philippine area of responsibility on November 12; Ofel, on November 17; and Pepito on November 18.
