MANILA, Philippines — Wind signals are still up in many areas of Luzon as Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi) continues to move away from the country on Monday morning, according to the state weather bureau.

Based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) 5 a.m. cyclone update, Pepito is traversing northwestward over the West Philippine Sea at 30 kilometers per hour (kph)

It was last spotted 145 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of 130 kph and gusts of up to 160 kph.

“Pepito will continue moving northwestward to west-northwestward today over the West Philippine Sea until it exits the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) region this morning or noon,” Pagasa’s forecast said.

“Outside the PAR region, the tropical cyclone will turn more westward or west-southwestward tomorrow (19 November) under the influence of an incoming northeasterly wind surge,” it added.
