Wind signals still up in some parts of Luzon as Pepito leaves PAR
MANILA, Philippines — Wind signals are still up in many areas of Luzon as Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi) continues to move away from the country on Monday morning, according to the state weather bureau.
Based on the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration’s (Pagasa) 5 a.m. cyclone update, Pepito is traversing northwestward over the West Philippine Sea at 30 kilometers per hour (km/h)
It was last spotted some 145 kilometers west of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, packing maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h and gusts of up to 160 km/h.
“Pepito will continue moving northwestward to west-northwestward today over the West Philippine Sea until it exits the Philippine area of Responsibility (PAR) region this morning or noon,” Pagasa’s forecast said.
