OLONGAPO CITY — The number of evacuees in Aurora reached 18,094 as of Sunday morning as Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi) was forecast to make landfall in the province in the afternoon.
At least 13,244 evacuees from eight towns in the province were in 149 evacuation centers, while 4,870 were staying with their relatives in safer areas.
Storm surges in four coastal villages in San Luis town were also reported, but details were unavailable as of posting.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 was raised over the province. According to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, torrential rains with typhoon-force winds forced more residents to take shelter in safer areas.
