Camarines Sur areas now under Signal No. 5 due to Pepito

MANILA, Philippines — The northeastern portion of Camarines Sur was placed on Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5 on Saturday afternoon as Super Typhoon Pepito (international name: Man-yi) continued to possibly bring “life-threatening” situation over the northeastern Bicol Region, the state weather bureau said.

In its 5 p.m. weather bulletin, Pagasa said that Pepito was last located some 120 kilometers east of Virac, Catanduanes, moving west-northwestward at 20 kilometers per hour (kph). It was still carrying maximum wind speed of 195 kph and gustiness of up to 240 kph.

Pagasa added that Pepito is forecast to make landfall in the vicinity of Catanduanes on Saturday evening or early Sunday morning. However, it added that a landfall in the eastern coast of Camarines Sur or Albay is not ruled out.
