14 hurt as truck carrying scouts tumbles in Misamis Oriental town

CAGAYAN DE ORO – At least 14 people, including several boy scouts, were hurt when the truck they were riding on tumbled while negotiating an uphill climb in Talisayan town, Misamis Oriental at past 11 a.m. on Friday.

According to Rene Sina of the municipal disaster risk reduction and management office (MDRRMO), the Isuzu Elf truck’s brake malfunctioned.

The truck was carrying some 50 students and teachers en route to a jamboree in Sibantang village of Talisay town.

Of the 14 hurt, four suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the Talisayan Provincial Hospital for treatment while 10 others who got minor bruises were administered first aid by personnel of the MDRRMO and Bureau of Fire Protection.

All those who figured in the accident later underwent a stress debriefing session at the municipal hall.
