Sorsogon suspends classes as new storm threatens Bicol region
SORSOGON CITY – Classes at all levels in both private and public schools across Sorsogon were suspended due to the “imminent approach” of Tropical Cyclone Man-yi (to be named Pepito) on Thursday, November 14.
In an advisory, Governor Edwin Hamor, chair of the provincial disaster risk reduction and management council, ordered the suspension of classes which shall take effect on Friday, November 15.

“This measure is implemented to ensure the safety and well-being of all students and the general public,” Hamor stated in the advisory.
Local disaster officials are advised to implement the necessary measures depending on the local situations and closely monitor highly vulnerable communities.
Article continues after this advertisementAlthough sea travel has yet to be banned, small vessels are discouraged to sail may face significant risks due to “anticipated rough sea conditions.”
The residents were also urged to “remain vigilant and take precautionary measures” as the storm looms, posing a threat on public safety.
