LIST: Class suspensions on Nov. 11 due to Tropical Storm Nika

MANILA, Philippines — Classes were suspended in many parts of the country on Monday, November 11, due to Tropical Storm Nika (international name: Toraji).

Based on the state weather bureau’s 8 p.m. bulletin, two Luzon areas were placed under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 as Nika intensified on Sunday afternoon.

Meanwhile, 11 areas were placed under TCWS No. 2 and 17 areas are under TCWS No. 1.

The tropical storm is forecast to reach the typhoon category within the next several hours.

Due to these developments, class suspensions were implemented in the following areas:

National Capital Region

Cordillera Administrative Region

Cagayan Valley

Central Luzon

Calabarzon

Bicol Region

Nika was last spotted some 425 kilometers (km) east of Infanta, Quezon. It was packing maximum sustained winds of 110 kilometers per hour (km/h) and gusts of up to 135 km/h, according to Pagasa. —with reports from Delfin T. Mallari Jr.
