Zubiri donates 600 sacks of rice to Kristine survivors in Bicol

LEGAZPI CITY – Communities affected by Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” (international name: Trami) in Albay and Camarines Sur will soon receive rice allocations from Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri’s donation of 600 sacks, which were delivered Thursday, November 7.

Albay provincial officials received 200 sacks of rice while Libon, the hometown of Zubiri’s mother and one of the areas severely impacted by flooding and landslides, got 150.

Camarines Sur also received 250 sacks of rice on Thursday.

The rice, totaling 30,000 kilos and sourced from local farmers, were intended to support both affected families and local livelihoods.

The 600 sacks of rice, valued at over P2 million, will be distributed across affected communities in the two provinces.

Zubiri, in a statement to media, also emphasized his commitment to support future budget allocations and legislation focused on disaster response, infrastructure, and agricultural support in the Bicol region.

He noted the importance of updated geohazard mapping and flood control projects to enhance disaster preparedness.

Albay Acting Governor Glenda Ong Bongao expressed gratitude for the assistance, noting its value to families still recovering from the storm’s impact.
