LRT 1 Cavite extension set to open in November
MANILA, Philippines — Phase 1 of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 Cavite Extension is set to open this November, Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista confirmed on Thursday.
In a Palace briefing, Bautista said the partial operation will begin two to three weeks from now.
“We are excited to share that LRT-1 Cavite Extension Phase 1 is all set to open this month. This project is expected to bring significant benefits to commuters, including reduced travel time, improved air quality, and economic growth in the region,” Light Rail Manila Corporation President and Chief Executive Officer Enrico Benipayo said at the briefing.
“We look forward to celebrating this milestone as a testament to the unwavering commitment of LRMC and our partners to provide a world-class transportation solution to the Filipino people,” he added.
The five new stations include Redemptorist – Aseana Station, MIA Road Station, PITX Station, Ninoy Aquino Avenue Station, and Dr. Santos (formerly Sucat) Station.

Phase 1 of the LRT 1 Cavite extension is projected to reduce travel time from Quezon City to Parañaque City to less than an hour.
Integration works, commissioning of train sets, and the operational readiness of phase 1 are currently being checked to ensure the safe and smooth integration of the existing LRT-1 system with the extended line.
Meanwhile, automated entrance gates, ticket vending machines, and teller booths were already installed and tested.
