Typhoon Marce moving slowly over Cagayan waters; Signal No. 3 in 2 areas

MANILA, Philippines — Typhoon Marce (international name: Yinxing)  is moving slowly west over the waters of northern Cagayan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Thursday afternoon.

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 is still up over in the northeastern portion of mainland Cagayan, consisting of  Santa Ana and Gonzaga.

In its 2:00 p.m. cyclone bulletin, Pagasa said Marce was spotted some 295 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan.

It packs maximum sustained winds of 150 kilometers per hour (kph), with gusts of up to 185 kph.

Marce will also bring strong to gale-force gusts over most of Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Pangasinan on Wednesday, according to the state weather bureau.

Gale, storm surge warnings

The state weather bureau issued a gale warning over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of Central Luzon.

A storm surge warning is also up in the provinces of Batanes, Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, and Isabela.
