Thunderstorm to drench Luzon on Sunday afternoon

MANILA, Philippines — Moderate to heavy rains with lightning and strong winds are expected over Luzon areas on Sunday afternoon, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

In its 2:25 p.m. advisory, Pagasa said rains are expected over the following areas within the next two hours.

  • Metro Manila
  • Laguna
  • Rizal
  • Cavite
  • Batangas (San Pascual, Bauan, Mabini, Batangas City, Tingloy)
  • Quezon (San Andres, San Narciso, San Francisco, Tagkawayan, Infanta, Real, Mauban)
  • Bulacan
  • Pampanga
  • Bataan
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Zambales
  • Tarlac

“All are advised to take precautionary measures against the impacts associated with these hazards which include flash floods and landslides,” the state weather bureau said.

Pagasa earlier reported that easterlies continue to impact the eastern parts of Luzon and Visayas.

The entire country will also experience isolated rain showers due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms, it added.

A low-pressure area outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility is also being monitored by the state weather bureau. It was last spotted some 1,605 kilometers east of Northeastern Mindanao.
