MANILA, Philippines — The cloud clusters monitored outside the Philippine area of Responsibility (PAR) has developed into a low-pressure area (LPA) early Sunday morning, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the LPA is still outside PAR and was last spotted some 1,605 kilometers east of Northeastern Mindanao.

“Ayon sa ating latest analysis, mababa yung tsansa nitong maging bagyo in the next 24 hours at wala rin itong direct effect sa ating bansa,” weather specialist Grace Castañeda said.
(Our latest analysis showed that this LPA has a low chance of becoming a typhoon in the next 24 hours and has no direct effect on our country.)
However, she pointed out that Pagasa does not discount the possibility that this LPA may enter the country’s boundary within 24 to 48 hours.
On the other hand, Castañeda said easterlies continue to affect the eastern portion of Luzon and Visayas.
She also said the entire country will have isolated rain showers due to easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
