DepEd: Gapan City students exhibit impressive learning performance
MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Education (DepEd) said on Saturday that students from Gapan City in Nueva Ecija exhibited “impressive” learning performance, emphasizing the importance of parental and local government support in attaining it.
“What is clear is that the schools and students who perform best are those who are supported not only within the schools, but also at home and by the community and the local government,” said Education Secretary Sonny Angara in a statement.

The DepEd also shared that students gained a 95 percent score in the Comprehensive Rapid Literacy Assessment and “above-average” score in the National Achievement Test.
The agency then said that the feat “highlighted the city’s resourcefulness in managing limited Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE).”

Article continues after this advertisementFurther, the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) recognized Gapan East Elementary and Kapalangan National High School as top performing schools adding that “effective MOOE and Special Education Fund usage can yield exceptional results.
The DepEd, the Second Congressional Commission on Education, and UNICEF also lauded the Schools Division Office of Gapan City for utilizing resources, recognizing it as a “model” for public schools in financing.
