PUERTO PRINCESA CITY — An early-morning fire in Barangay Masipag in this city on Friday left 13 homes destroyed and at least 76 persons homeless.
The city fire department’s initial investigation reports that the blaze broke out around 3 a.m. and was contained by 5:06 a.m., causing about P175,000 in damage.
Of the houses affected, eight were razed, while five suffered damage.
Authorities said seven persons suffered injuries in the two-hour blaze.
Residents failed to salvage belongings due to the rapid spread of the fire, as many of the homes were made of lightweight materials.
Firefighters continue to investigate the cause of the fire. INQ
