Number of fatalities due to Kristine and Leon rises to 145
MANILA, Philippines — The number of reported deaths due to the combined effects of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine (international name: Trami) and Typhoon Leon (international name: Kong-rey) has climbed to 145, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Wednesday.
At the same time, the NDRRMC disclosed that only 14 of these deaths have been validated, adding that 115 were injured and 37 were missing.

In its 8 a.m. situational report, the agency also revealed that the tally of people affected by the calamities is at 7,033,922 (1,788,630 families).
More than 761,000 of them were displaced by the recent weather disturbances, with over 333,000 staying inside evacuation centers, while more than 427,000 took shelter elsewhere.

These areas are in Region 1 (Ilocos), Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), Region 3 (Central Luzon), Region 4-A (Calabarzon), Region 4-B (Mimaropa), Region 5 (Bicol), Region 6 (Western Visayas), Region 8 (Eastern Visayas), Region 9 (Zamboanga Peninsula), Region 12 (Soccsksargen), Caraga, Barmm, and the National Capital Region.
The NDRRMC also reported that over 111,000 houses nationwide sustained damage amounting to more than P40,000,000.
More than 104,000 of the homes were partially damaged, while 6,437 were totally destroyed.
To aid affected residents, the government has so far distributed over P719,000,00 worth of assistance nationwide.
